Environmental Engineering Department

The Department of Environmental Engineering was established in 1992 and the number of the undergraduate students is 220. To graduate fully qualified engineers continuing efforts are given to increase the number of academic personnel. The department has shown a big improvement in the means of laboratory and computer capacity since the year it was established and continues to improve.

In the Department, projects are prepared, wastewater and drinking water analyses are done and emission reports are prepared according to demands coming from Industrial Establishments and Organized Industrial Regions, in and around Konya City.

Pamukkale University - Environmental Engineering Department (EED)

PAU Environmental Engineering Department (EED) was founded in 1994 under the Engineering Faculty of Pamukkale University and started her educational activities in 1995 by offering M.Sc. degrees in "Environmental Engineering". With regard to the vision of the department and to meet the needs of the era, a new undergraduate program with 30% of the courses in English, has been initiated as of Fall 2008.

The department currently houses two divisions, being "Environmental Sciences" and "Environmental Technology" and a robust faculty with young, dynamic, innovative, and highly qualified academics. The lab facilities conveniently accommodated in the Engineering Faculty Building and assigned for the use of the department provides the required infrastructure for the current undergraduate and graduate programs and for the ongoing scientific research activities.

The mission of the Environmental Engineering Department is to provide a premium and contemporary education to prepare her graduates as professionals capable of identifying, evaluating, and solving complex and multi-layered problems in the field of environmental science and engineering, to conduct and encourage fundamental and applied research with a focus of designing and implementing sound, feasible, and sustainable engineering solutions to the environmental real-world issues, to build-up the proficient expertise with a global, inter-disciplinary, and innovative perspective, to be a competent actor coordinating with the public administration, the industry, and the other local, national and, international bodies for implementation of the generated sustainable solutions.

Istanbul Technical University Environmental Engineering Department (EED) at Istanbul Technical University

Environmental Engineering Department (EED) at Istanbul Technical University was founded in 1978 and she currently houses one of the major environmental engineering undergraduate programs together with two leading graduate programs "Environmental Biotechnology (EnviroBioTech)" and "Environmental Science and Engineering (EnvSciEng)" namely. The Department is a highly dynamic and exciting education and research centre, which attracts highly qualified students and top-class academics. The department accommodates total of 5 laboratories for research and education, several lab-scale and pilot-scale systems.

The mission of the department is to provide a professionally recognized, premium education that prepares engineers to identify, evaluate and solve complex problems involving environmental science and engineering. This is accomplished through the excellence in teaching and research, concentrating on the design and implementation of proper, feasible, and sustainable solutions with a global and inter-disciplinary perspective in environmental real-world issues. As a result of the strengths, the premium education, fundamental and applied research, well-equipped graduates, and proficient expertise generating from the Department have been sought after locally, nationally, and internationally.

Habitat Ecology Learning Program

Habitat Ecology Learning Program

habitat-ecology-learning-program.jpgThe Habitat Ecology Learning Program (HELP) is an exciting interdisciplinary curriculum designed for students in the upper elementary grades. HELP encourages students to use language arts, life sciences, social studies, and math to explore the richness of ecology. This hands-on program consists of six modules: How Nature Works*, Rain Forests*, Grasslands, Wetlands, Deserts, and Temperate Forests.

HELP is designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used as a stand-alone year-long curriculum, or incorporated into your existing program as an exciting, motivational supplement. One of the most successful approaches to integrating HELP in your school is to spread the program over grades 4–6, covering different modules each year.

Each HELP module contains roughly 22 detailed lessons and can be taught in sequence with other modules or by itself. The lessons can be incorporated into time blocks allocated to science or other disciplines; at its core HELP is a life-science program that lends itself to interdisciplinary implementation and to team teaching.

About Gaia University

Gaia UniversityWidescale human learning and unlearning are the keys to making the transition from our current eco-destructive culture to a fresh, designed culture that is eco-constructive and socially just.

Those of us who are willing need to choose to make this transition now.

Some people (we calculate hundreds of thousands) have already started on this endless journey and this worldwide web of pioneers holds a vast repertoire of useful experiences for future learners.

Our observation is that transition pathways of this significance are deepest, most effective and most enjoyable when traveled in the company of others, and that trail guides, who have made a part of their own journey already, can perform a valuable mentoring service.

Our belief is that this learning process deserves to be supported and enhanced through the provision of a 'liberating structure' that acknowledges the effort and commitment people make when walking these pathways. Gaia University is one such structure.

Using self-directed action learning as our prime learning/un-learning strategy we put students (Associates) in charge of their own transitions, free to follow routes which open up before them, guided by their tutors and mentors, whilst earning credits for Bachelors and Masters Degrees, Certificates and Diplomas.

We notice the vital signs of an awakening of transitional energy amongst the world's peoples and so, we have launched Gaia University to provide the support we can to these bold world changers and future generations of Earth caretakers.

Gaia University is a new organization within the large family of organizations worldwide concerned with the emergence of an ecologically and socially regenerative mainstream culture.

It is created with several, network-wide functions in mind, some of which are described briefly below.

Beneficial connections:

Gaia University has the facility to connect across organizations using the allied vectors of teaching and learning. Thus organizations may retain their autonomous agendas whilst linking cooperatively to provide a learning ecology suited to their purposes.
